Grand Forks, ND – Several months ago Americans for Prosperity of North Dakota announced it was launching a study of local spending and taxation practices by government subdivisions (Grand Forks County, City of Grand Forks, the Grand Forks School District, and the Grand Forks Park District). The results will be released on October 29th, 2007 at the Best Western Town House at 710 First Avenue North in Grand Forks. The press conference will be followed by a community discussion of the results, as well as other issues related to the subject.

“What we discovered is that the belief that state funding has decreased and caused local property taxes to increase is a total myth. The numbers prove that not only has state funding of education increases, but that education funding is not the biggest driver of higher property taxes. We will explain in-depth what is really causing property taxes to go up, and what the politicians are not telling the taxpayers and the voters,” said Duane Sand – State Director of Americans for Prosperity of North Dakota.
